Justin and his Train

Justin is getting really good at building train tracks. He loves to play train when we are putting the little boys to bed. He loves when the track goes over the mountain and through the tunnel.

Hunter's Hospital Stay with RSV

Hunter stayed in the hospital 3 days with RSV. Tyler otok him the the ER on Tuesday night. He was admitted and stayed from Wednesday morning to Friday morning. He was pretty sick. He has an IV for 3 days becuase he would not eat or drink anything and was very dehydrated. He was a strong little guy. It only took them an hour to get his original IV going. He endured all the poking and proding and the suctions quite well. Tyler was a good dad and stayed the nights with him. I stayed the nights at home with Justin and Fisher. They were both sick too. I think all 3 boys probably had RSV but Justin and Fisher didn't get bad enough to require any medical intervention. I don't like having sick kids. I am glad that we are all on the mend and feeling better.

You could really tell when he was starting to feel better.

Sickness at our house

All 3 kids have been sick. Justin first and then the twins followed suit. Just the general common cold...runny nose, watery eyes, cough, etc. After about 4 days of fever we decided to take the twins to the instacare. Fisher was diagnosed with restricted airway something or other and was ordered to have breathing treatments over the next several days. Hunter was diagnosed with pneumonia and given amoxocillin.

After 1 1/2 days Hunter still had a fever and was eating and drinking almost nothing. Tyler took Hunter to the ER early this morning and was admitted to the hospital. He was diagnosed with RSV. We were told that the pneumonia was a misdiagnosis. Hunter was pretty dehydrated and very sick. After one day in the hospital and being hydrated by IV he is looking better. His RSV is getting worse as his body is more hydrated and able to secrete more mucous. He is still not eating or drinking much of anything. Hopefully he will improve and we will see if he can come home from the hospital tomorrow or the next day.

I stayed with Hunter for most of today at the hospital. I missed Justin and Fisher. I learned that I am so thankful that I am able to stay home with my kids everyday. I am so blessed to be a stay-at-home-Mom. I am also so thankful for supportive family. Thanks to all who have helped us get through the past couple of days and weeks.

Justin and Fisher are hopefully on the mend and will get some good sleep tonight.

Sick kids are no fun. However, the lows are only temporary. The good outweighs the lows in so many ways.

By the way, before Hunter got super sick he was able to get from his bum to his belly and from his belly back to his bum! This is a HUGE milestone for him. We are hoping that this sickness does not set him back too much.

Mars and Mickey Mouse

Tonight I noticed Justin pulling at his underwear and kind of itching his bottom. I asked him if everything was ok. He said his bum was sore. So in a few minutes this is how our conversation went:

Mom: "Come on, lets go fix your bum."

Justin: "The sore went away. It went to Mars."

Mom: "Mars? Who taught you about Mars?"

Justin: "Mickey Mouse."

About 1 hour later I was trying to get him to go to bed and he said, "Mom, first I have to look out the window and find Mars."

I am glad that Mickey Mouse is teaching him something!
Hooray for cartoons, right?!
