Life according to Justin

I just love the things that 3-year-olds come up with just by listening to what mom and dad say.

Justin: "Dads work hard and Moms spend money."

Not doing so well

Well, Hunter is not doing so well off of the digestion medication. We started him back on it and he is doing better.

Also, Fisher and Hunter both have had constant ear infections for several months now. We are going to be getting tubes for both of them on the 10th. We really hope that the tubes will eliminate the ear infections!

Hurray for Hunter

Hunter is finally off of the medicine for his disgestion issue. We took him off the medicine 5 days ago, and he has been doing great. One downside is that now his poop has started to stink again. Oh well, we can live with that.

Classic for Hunter

Hunter loves to put his legs like this. He does this in the highchair, on the floor and in his bed. When I lay him down for a nap his legs go up and I have to push them down to put his blanket on.

Buddies

Justin and his buddies playing in their swimming suits. They ran thru the sprikler, played on the slip-n-slide, climbed on the fort and played in the dirt. Jackson, Wyatt, and Justin.

Helmets for the Twins

We had to get helmets for the twins. Fisher and Hunter both have flat spots on their heads that should go away after wearing helmets. Hunter's flat spot is due to the fact that he can't sit on his own yet so he spends a lot of time on the back of his head. Fisher's flat spot is due to the torticollis that he had when he was about 4 or 5 months old. His neck was so tight that he didn't like to look the opposite direction so his head had a flat spot on it and it hasn't completely rounded out.

They have had their helmets for 1 week today. There was a break-in period the first several days but now they are wearing them 23 hours each day. Basically, we take them off to bath them and dress them.
The break-in period went like this:
Day 1: 1 hour on, 1 hour off, off while sleeping.
Day 2: 2 hours on, 1 hour off, off while sleeping.
Day 3: 4 hours on, 1 hour off, on while sleeping.
Day 5: 8 hours on, 1 hour off, on while sleeping
Day 6: 23 hours a day.

They have done pretty well with the helmets. They are sweat balls and I have to take their helmets off every couple of hours to wipe them out.

The first thing they did to cast the helmets was to put 3 layers of nylon over their heads. Next, they mark where the ears, eyes, and center of head are. Then they wrap the head in a cast material. They let that dry and then make slits in it above the ears so they can remove the cast. They take the cast and make a mold of their existing head shapes and then make the helmets from that mold. Then each helmet is personalized for them by shaping around the ears and neck and forehead. There is a small strap on the side of the helmet that holds it on so they do not have anything under their chins.

So here are some photos of the process.

Fisher with the first layer of nylon.

Fisher getting the cast material wrapped on. Look at that chub! What a cutie.

Fisher just before they took the cast off. He was crying and had boogers to his chin.

Fisher as his usual self...all smiles. Sweaty but still smiling.

Hunter and his 3 layers of nylon. What an adorable face!

Hunter getting the cast material on. They both sat on Tyler's lap to do it all.

Hunter just before they cut the cast off. Not happy at all....crying and very sweaty!

Hunter and his helmet. He has side pads on his because he has such a small head. The pads are to keep the helmet in place. (He now has another pad that comes across his forehead.)

All in all, they are doing very well. We are anticipating wearing helmets for about 4 months. We are so happy and feel very blessed that the insurance covered the cost 100% (it is not common for insurances to cover helmets because they are considered cosmetic.)

Boys and Girls

Last night my 3-year-old Justin figured out the difference between boys and girls.

Justin to Tyler: "Boys wrestle and girls do bills."

What a crack up.

Double Ear Infections Times Two

I just won "Mother-of-the-year-Award."

Last week, I took Fisher and Hunter to the doctor for their 9 month check ups and to my surprise they both have double ear infections! Yeah, that would be 4 infected ears. How did I not know this? They had both been pretty fussy and not sleepy or eating very good but I was just contributing it to the teething factor. Fisher is cutting 6 teeth (3 have finally broke through) and we're not sure how many Hunter is working on. But once the doctor said ear infections it all made sense! Duh Mom.

So this makes 4 ear infections for each of them in the last 6 months. So as it looks right now we are headed for tubes.

oh, and to top it off, I had to take Hunter back to the doctor on Monday and his one ear wasnt getting better so they gave him a shot that is a strong dose of antibiotic. He had a minor allergic reaction to it. The shot and the antibiotic that he was put on for the infections is in the same class so they changed the antibiotic to a different one. Hunter is so much happier now that the antibiotic is actaully working for him!

This is the Place Heritage Park

Justin and I went to This is the Place Heritage Park with our friends Lexie and Jackson. Lexie's cousin, Jenny, and her kids came with us. We had so much fun. If you haven't ever been its worth it. All summer long Wednesdays are Wild West Wednesdays and that means it is only $2 per person. Huge savings. Go to their website for more info. http://www.thisistheplace.org/

Here is Justin and Jackson sitting on the steps of Brigham Young's home. We were able to get close to the horses to pet them. It was fun for the kids. Here is Justin, Jackson, Lucy and Ruby.
Justin loved the train rides. This was the 2nd train we rode.

Mom and Justin looking at the cows and sheep. There were lots of baby sheep.

Lexie and Jackson at one of the activities. We got little pieces of leather and got to pound designs into the leather with the little mallets. The boys really liked this one.

The pony rides were the favorite for everyone. We saved the best for last. Justin still talks about the pony rides. He will say, "Guy rode a baby pony and Jackson rode a brown one and Justin rode a big black one." He really had fun.

Here is Jackson.
Here is Justin.

Thanks everyone for a fun afternoon.

Hunter at 9 months

Oh, our sweet Hunter baby is doing so well. He is growing and getting stronger everyday. He is all about comfort. He doesn't want to be entertained but comforted. He likes to snuggle with Mom, Dad and Justin.

Hunter weighs 16 lbs 10 oz and is 28 inches long. He is closing the weight gap between him and Fisher from 7 lbs at 6 months old to about 5 1/2 lbs. He is our little bite-size!

Hunter loves to kick back and relax in his high chair; he can get in the funniest positions sometimes. He likes to eat mush (baby cereal) and baby food. He is like a little bird when he eats; he just sits there with his mouth open. He likes food better than his bottle. He has been rolling for about a month now and keeps his head up so well. He can roll from his back to his tummy and then back to his back. He has this little laugh cry that just steals your heart. Hunter likes to be rocked and snuggled to sleep; no laying him in his crib awake. He is very sporadic on nap time but he is getting better. He loves to stick his feet straight in the air and he is always holding onto his toes.

Kids on the Move has been coming to our home to help us with Hunter's development. We focus on fine and gross motor skills. We have been doing this for about 5 months and he is improving each month. Hunter acts like he was born 2 months early. But everyone feels like by age two he will be caught up to his actual age. We pray for that each day.

Here Hunter is in his high chair all kicked back.

This is not an often occurrence where Hunter falls asleep without being held.
Hunter is learning to sit in the bumbo. He does better each time.

Yes, I have already given them licorice.

Oh, and Hunter got the first tooth. So far that is the only tooth between the two of them. They are both cutting other teeth but they are yet to break through.

We love you Hunter!

Fisher at 9 months

What a happy guy! Fisher is such a social baby. He wants to be entertained by anyone who will give him the attention. He wants to be in the middle of whatever is going on. He LOVES Justin. He watches him constantly. It is almost impossible to feed Fisher if Justin is in the same room.

Fisher weighs 22 lbs 2 oz and is 28 1/2 inches. He is our tubba-tubba.

Fisher loves to sleep on his tummy with his blanket under his arm and the corner of it in his mouth. He always sits Indian-style unless he is bumb-scooting. He can get himself around quite well for not being able to crawl yet. He likes to pull himself up to the edge of his crib. He is an awesome sleeper; I just feed him and then lay him in his bed. He eats pretty well but he thinks he is ready for our food and wants little to do with baby food. He can hold his own bottle which is a big help. He does not like to wear hats or sunglasses; and Justin likes to tease him by putting them on him.

This is Fisher on his first swing ride. He loved it. I wish the park by us had baby swings. I guess I will just have to go to a different park.

Oh, and Tyler decided to feed Fisher an ice cream bar. Of course Fisher LOVED it.
We love you Fisher!

Justin as a 3 year-old

On June 26th Justin turned 3. He is one smart 3 year old. He loves to play with friends, cousins and Grandpa Scott. He is into basketball, race cars, four-wheelers, and wrestling. He is an awesome big brother and loves Fisher and Hunter.

Here is a picture of Justin building a tower with Grandpa Scott. Justin just loves Grandpa Scott's race car. The other day my dad got it out and took him for a little ride.

Justin has all of a sudden turned into a climber. This is at the park in Park City.

Justin likes to help mom feed the babies. Here he is feeding Hunter and watching TV at the same time. He still needs a little help from mom to feed the brothers.

Fisher just loves Justin. He and Justin are little buddies.

Here are some of the classic things that Justin says:

"I not big anymore."
"Fisher wants to do it by Fisher's self."
"Fisher wants to wrestle me."
"Dad, lets go downstairs and wrestle."
"Fisher/Hunter said butt....hahahaha."
"Mom, get back here right now."
"I not going to town."
"Mom, go to your room and sit on your bed."
"Horses on Justin's side." (while riding in the van)
"Be happy, Be Safe."
We love you Justin and are so proud of you.

Justin's 3rd Birthday

Happy 3rd Birthday Justin! ok, I'm a few days behind. Justin turned 3 on June 26th. We had a little birthday for him a few days later with the family. That night he kept saying, "I had a fun birthday party."
Of course, the cake was Toy Story.
The dog bank from Grandma Clark was a big hit.

It was so fun to watch Justin open presents. He actually understands that there is something inside for him!
Justin got a wiggle car. It is very important that it was green.

His favorite thing that he got was a sandbox trackhoe. He loves it. He enjoyed scooping his building blocks with it.

Thanks Justin for a fun birthday!

Hogle Zoo

We went to Hogle Zoo a couple of weeks ago. The weather was perfect, the babies did awesome and Justin had a blast.

Family pictures are tough with 2 babies, a todler, and a stranger taking the photo! Tyler pushed the babies around while I played with Justin at the park inside the zoo.

The elephants were our favorites!

Justin loved the snake slide at the park. He went on it over and over.

Justin was a little nervous at first to get close to the animals. It didn't take long before he wanted to get in with the animals.
Hunter was so good. He even took a nap for us.

Fisher was as happy as could be. I think he enjoyed watching all the people and being the social bug that he is.

We walked so much that Justin started getting tired. I gave him a piggy back ride a few times.

Justin's favorite part was feeding the ducks. He would have stayed there all day if we would have let him. Oh, and if I would have had enough quarters to buy duck food.

This was the best picture I could get of us on the train. Of course Justin couldn't take his eyes off the animals, not even for a picture.

The zoo was so fun! We will have to go again!
