The other day Justin said to Tyler: "Dad, you want to hear the alphabet backwards?" Of course, Tyler said yes. Justin amazed us when he did the entire alphabet backwards with only a little help from V thru Q.
Sometime when we are driving in the car he will say: "Look Mom, there is a pattern." and he will follow up with what the pattern is: Boy, girl, boy, girl. Red, blue, red, blue. He picks up patterns in things really easily.
Lately, Justin has been into addition and subtraction. He knows 1+1, 2+2, 3+3, 4+4, 5+5, 1+2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9, 2+ 3/4/5, 4+5 and probably a few others. He really has the subtraction down to a science when he is eating. "Mom, I have to have 5 more bites and I ate one bite so I have 4 left." and so on like that.
When we are riding in the car he always asks what roads we are driving on and wants to know what city we are in at all times. He asks directions to places we have been like "How do you get to Park City?" "Where is Nevada?" and "How do you get to Provo?" He knows our address and all the major roads coming from Grandma Clark's house to our house.
Justin also is very interested in school buildings. He wants to know the name of every signle one. He knows all of the schools by name that we regularly drive by and how old you have to be to go there. He can't wait to be 5 to go to elementary school.
I told Justin the other day that he was 'stinkin' smart.' and he said, "I'm not stinkin' smart. I'm just smart." I had to chuckle at that one.
Justin is a very deep thinker. He gets this from his dad. Justin can memorize anything, just like his daddy!

Alot alike or very different?
I always get asked if Fisher and Hunter are a lot alike or very different. My answer is, without hesitation, very different!!
I think the only thing that they are alike on is their birth date and the time of day they have a messy diaper.
This is how different they are:
* Fisher wont lay down in the tub and Hunter wont sit up.
* Fisher's hair is combed to his left and Hunter's to his right.
* Fisher hates, hates his diaper changed. Hunter loves his diaper changed.
* Fisher loves his teeth brushed, Hunter doesn't really like it.
* Fisher wont sit still for more than a couple of minutes. Hunter is content with a toy for a long time.
* Fisher has blonde hair brown eyes and Hunter has brown hair blue eyes.
* Fisher's hair looks best short short and Hunter a little longer.
* Fisher does not like to be snuggled. Hunter is a little snuggle bug.
* Fisher loves his shoes on (that means he is going outside) and Hunter takes his shoes off almost immediately.
* Fisher is a daddy's boy and Hunter a mommy's boy.
* Fisher is a crappy eater. Hunter eats great.
* Fisher must eat at the counter without a bib and Hunter eats in a highchair with a bib.
* Fisher has to have his dinosaur to go to sleep. Hunter doesn't need anything to fall asleep (except medication).
* Fisher loves to read books; Hunter would rather chew on them.
* Fisher has to touch everything. Hunter has to chew/suck/taste everything.
* Fisher likes his milk warm. Hunter likes his milk HOT.
* Fisher doesn't have a ticklish spot on his body. Hunter is very ticklish all over.
* Fisher needs a lot of sleep. Hunter survives on a lot less sleep.
* Fisher throws things when he gets frustrated. Hunter doesn't get frustrated.
* Fisher loves otter pops. Hunter wont touch them.
These are just a few differences. We just love that they are their own little person. I always say that Heavenly Father knew I couldn't handle 2 Fisher's or 2 Hunter's and that is why I got them just the way they are.
We feel blessed to have the 3 very different boys that we have!!! We love you Justin, Fisher and Hunter! Thanks for being you!

What's for dinner?
This is what Justin said at dinner tonight:
"Mom you aren't allowed to make dinner anymore. This is gross."
I honestly hate dinner time. Any meal time for that matter. It seems like you can never please everyone and some nights you can't even please one.
PS Tyler did eat dinner so it must have been ok.

Hunter at 2
I know I already posted this picture but it is one of my favorites.

Hunter is progressing every day. He is starting to take steps with his walker and will pull himself up to it and start walking on his own. He cruises the couch well. He does well self-feeding puffs, cheetos, crackers and nutri grain bars (he does good as long as it kind of softens up with gumming).

The boys love trains! Tyler and I made this cake for them.
They were so cute at their party. We couldn't get them close enough to blow the candles out because Fisher kept trying to touch them.

Hunter tried his cupcake. He didn't eat much but he tried it and he liked it!

INDEPENDENT STEPS...with his walker
Hunter has taken his first INDEPENDENT STEPS....with his toy walker!! This is very exciting! Independent means without help from mom or dad.
On September 17th, I put Hunter down in front of his walker. He took 3 steps on his own and fell down. I was so excited that I went out on the deck and yelled to Tyler (he was working on the new shed in the backyard) that Hunter took 3 steps on his own. When I came back inside Hunter had gotten up and was walking even more. He had made his way from the center of the room to the side. I was completely over joyed. I yelled to Tyler that he took more steps. Tyler came in to see for himself. Hunter walked across the TV room with his toy walker 4 times!! He was so so happy. He just kept smiling as we cheered him on. He continues to get better each day.
I have worked with Hunter for a long time to get to this milestone. I began by holding his legs at his knee and lifting his leg up with my fingers. I did this so he could get the motion down of lifting his leg forward. Each day it got easier for him and there was less and less resistance. He started to go through the motion with very little resistance until he felt comfortable with it. Then he surprised me with the independent steps while holding on to his walker!! He did this 2 weeks shy of his 2nd birthday! Way to go Hunter!!

Justin's trip to the dentist
"His teeth are the cleanest I have seen in a long time." These are the words that I heard when I took Justin to the dentist last week!! I was very excited.
Justin's teeth look great and his permanent teeth are coming in well. The gapping in his teeth are great to allow for his permanent teeth to grow into.
We went to Children's Crossing and saw Dr. Tew. They were amazing. Justin had X-rays and then had his teeth cleaned and then Dr. Tew looked him over.
Justin held so still while he had his teeth cleaned. Not much flossing since he has so many gaps!
Justin's favorite part was that he was able to watch Toy Story 3 on the TV on the ceiling. He thought it was pretty cool especially when he got to wear headphones so only he could hear it. It was great!
They gave Justin a new toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, floss picks, chapstick, gum and a token to put in the prize machine. The prize machine gave him a glow in the dark pig.

All the boys have banks in my closet. Why the master bedroom closet? well, Tyler has a bottle in their that he puts spare change into. When Justin got his dog bank he just naturally wanted to put it by Dad's bank. So when Fisher and Hunter got their banks Justin put them next to his. Anyway, sometimes when I need to have Fisher focus on one thing I dump some change out of Tyler's bank and let the boys put it in their banks. I just loved this picture of Fisher.

Justin's back to preschool
Labor Day Camp Trip
For Labor Day we went camping up Diamond Fork. This is one of our annual family camp trips. Tyler loves to go camping for his birthday and over Labor Day. My parents went with us. It was a lot of fun. It would have been better if the boys would have slept better. None of the boys slept very good which makes it for a sleepless night for mom and dad.

Justin and his bike
This summer Justin has learned to ride a bike. He got a small 12" bike for Easter. It took him a little while to get the hang of pedaling; in the beginning he just wanted to push it along with his feet. Once he got the hang of pedaling there was no stopping him.
In June, for his birthday, he got a new bigger bike. The new 16" bike accommodated his height so much better. It took him about 1 day to adjust from the little bike to his new bike and then he could ride so much faster. I took the training wheels off the small bike and thought that he could get used to balancing on a shorter bike. It took him a few days with mom's help and then he was off. He no longer wanted to ride his new big bike with training wheels because "riding without training wheels is so much fun!" Once he got really good at the balancing I took the training wheels off his bigger bike. I talked him into trying to ride it without training wheels and it only took him about 5 minutes to adjust from the smaller bike. Justin loves riding his bike without training wheels. He now does so much on his bike.

* go up and down the curb
* go off the jump that Tyler built for him

This summer has been about the friends
This summer has been filled with fun activities and friends, friends, friends! I just love the cul-de-sac that we live in. There are so many fun friends for Justin. He has become so independent this summer. It has been great for me that he can go outside and play without constant supervision. There are a few rules when he goes outside to play: #1 don't go past the gray ditch (that means don't go out of the circle). #2 don't go inside anyone's house without asking mom. #3 play nice.
He does great and loves being outside.

This summer Wyatt and Justin went to Summer Camp together. They had a dress up day. Wyatt was a knight and Justin was Sherrif Woody.

Summer time is the best. Justin spent most of his time this summer with Wyatt Page, Kierra Saunders and Maddi Macey. Other friends that are not in the pictures are Will, Gwen and Maggie Endsley, Austin and Jayden Saunders, Alexia Recksiek, Camri Clayton, Easton Atwood, Cameron, Gavin and Braden Nault. Thanks to all the friends who made summer so much fun!!
