Hunter started horse back riding at Courage Reins. This is a therapeutic riding program that will help him with trunk stability, balance, flexibility (he doesnt need help in this category), coordination, and muscle stimulation.
Today was his first day. He feel asleep on the horse. Gary (his OT) kept him in the saddle and said that he was still working even though he feel asleep. Hunter did so well. He did not cry, hold his breath or get nervous. He made the first day easy for mom and dad. Tyler went to work late so that he could come and be part of the first experience.
Here he is with Gary and a volunteer walker. The horse he is riding today is Hela.
He even got to ride sideways today. Gary sings to him while he is riding.

I must admit that watching Hunter ride off the first time was a little scary for both me and Tyler. Tyler got a teary eyed. I had to laugh or I would have started crying too. I told Tyler this was preparing us to watch him ride away in the school bus when he starts the special needs preschool this fall.
He feel asleep towards the end of his ride. He was all tuckered out. And that is one proud Dad.
Hunter stayed asleep all the way out to the van and all the way to Aunt Haylie's house to pick up the brothers. It took it out of him.
Way to go Hunter!! We hope horseback riding will be a positive expererience. You are a tough little guy!!
